Hutt City Musical Theatre
Hutt City Musical Theatre Inc (formally known as Lower Hutt Operatic Society) was founded in 1990. As an amateur performance society, we provide an opportunity for individuals and families to become involved in musical theatre productions in a variety of different roles; from front of house to backstage, directing to sound, lighting, costuming and makeup, as well as on stage roles.
Hutt City Musical Theatre is dedicated to producing high quality Musicals ranging from large scale musicals (Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, Once Upon a Mattress, Downtown, Be-Bop-A-Lula) to revues and children’s shows. In 2018, we introduced Hutt City Musical Theatre Junior to allow younger members of the community to become involved in musical theatre.
Based in central Lower Hutt at Epuni Community Hall (corner of Mitchell Street and Oxford Terrace.) Hutt City Musical Theatre manages all bookings for the Hall, which is currently home to a number of community groups. The Hall is available for functions as well as regular hire.
Our Theatre has a cabaret style seating arrangement which seats 80 people, a spacious foyer and kitchen, all available for you to hire either separately or as a whole.
Hutt City Musical Theatre couldn't undertake all this activity without the support of our members and volunteers from our community. They are a vital part to ensure more productions to come.
If you are interested in becoming a part of our upcoming performances, or putting forward a production proposal, please contact us.
